Our website, in conjunction with the State's SCAccess system, offers a library of associated information that you might find helpful in learning about disability topics. To get started, we suggest you consider these selected sections that address common disability topics:
The SC Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) oversees and funds services for South Carolinians with severe, lifelong disabilities of intellectual disability, autism, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury and conditions related to each of these four disabilities. The American Association of Health and Disability (AAHD) works with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and DDSN to increase participation of people with disabilities in a variety of arenas, ranging from recreation to health care and employment.Personal Care Workers are independent community members that help provide various personal assistance tasks for older adults.Disabilities Resources .org offers a comprehensive list of many organizations and agencies in South Carolina that support people with disabilities. You can also search our Statewide Services Database also lists many organizations that offer products and services related to disabilities.
